Many Americans assume a bachelor’s degree is the only way to reach a six-figure salary, but that is no longer true.
According to a LendingTree analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data, 5.7 million full-time, year-round workers without a four-year degree earned $100,000 or more in 2023. That equals 9.1% of all non-degree workers.
While opportunities exist across industries, the benefits are not evenly shared: men account for nearly 78% of these high earners, leaving women underrepresented in many roles.
However, the data highlights a wide range of fields where workers with skills, experience, and determination, but no degree, can achieve six-figure pay.
1. Executive leadership
Chief executives and legislators lead the way, with 63.6% of workers in these roles who lack a bachelor’s degree earning six figures.
