Millions of people subscribe to Amazon Prime and get free shipping on their orders from the retail giant. But although Prime comes with a boatload of benefits, it also costs up to $12.99 a month.
You also get free shipping if you order at least $25 worth of eligible products, even if you are not a Prime member. In other situations, you must pay for shipping.
But not always — if you are clever.
As it turns out, a non-Prime member who orders $25 worth of goods gets free shipping on anything else they order in the next 24 hours — with no minimum order necessary for subsequent orders placed within that time frame.
Amazon calls this freebie “extended free shipping.” To get it, place an order of at least $25 worth of items shipped by Amazon. At checkout, select free shipping.
From that moment, you are eligible for extended free shipping for the next 24 hours — no minimum order necessary. Simply add eligible items to your cart and select free shipping again at checkout.
However, note that there are a few restrictions. According to Amazon, they are as follows:
- “Only items shipped by Amazon are eligible.
- Orders must be shipped to the same address as your first order.
- For special products or orders, an additional handling fee may still apply.
- Geographic shipping restrictions may apply. Some items shipped to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico may not be eligible.”
Also, Amazon says that “canceling items, combining orders, or changing your shipping address, speed, or preference might affect your free shipping eligibility.”
