Our taste for fast food is changing, according to the latest annual ranking of quick-serve restaurants by the firm Market Force Information.
It has found that America’s favorite chain has changed in three of five cuisine categories — Mexican, Pizza and Sandwiches — since the 2016 ranking.
CNBC reports that for the 2017 ranking, more than 11,000 people were polled about various factors, including:
- Food quality
- Service
- Value
- Restaurant experience
Restaurant chains received a score for each individual factor as well as an overall score used to rank the restaurants. The new winners are:
- Mexican: Chipotle Mexican Grill (with an overall score of 57 percent) took the title of No. 1 Mexican chain from Taco Bueno, which led the pack last year.
- Pizza: Marco’s Pizza (75 percent) took the No. 1 title from Papa Murphy’s.
- Sandwiches: Firehouse Subs (77 percent) took the No. 1 title from McAlister’s Deli.
One cuisine category, Burger Chains, was new since last year. In-N-Out Burger won the category, with an overall score of 79 percent — the highest score of any restaurant in this year’s study.
In the remaining cuisine category, Chicken Chains, Chick-fil-A repeated as winner, with an overall score of 78 percent.
Chick-fil-A also holds the No. 1 title among every restaurant in the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index.
