App Lets You Visualize New Furniture

If you want to test-drive some IKEA furniture from home – or wherever else you care to – there’s an app for that.

AdAge.com describes the new iPhone app…

How would that Poang chair look in your living room? Now you can find out, via this app by developers at District Nerds, which lets you “preview” furniture in the IKEA catalog to see how it would look in your house.

The app, which was not sanctioned by the Swedish retailer, was built in four weeks, and since its release, has had 35,000 users from over 90 countries. The developers told Creativity that they had used their “iPhone-loving wives” to QA-test the app.

In what seems to be a pretty sexist move, they’re billing it as the most useful app ever for women — but we see it as handy to furniture shoppers, whatever their gender.

No mention of an Android version.
