Special hours for members age 60 and older and others will remain in place at Costco, just weeks after the retailer had announced it was sending them to the dustbin of history.
Starting on July 26, Costco warehouses in the U.S., including Puerto Rico, will scale back — rather than eliminate — the special shopping period to 9 to 10 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Earlier this month, Costco had said it would eliminate the special hours on July 26.
During most of the COVID-19 pandemic, Costco has hosted special hours for members ages 60 and older, and for those with disabilities or who are immunocompromised. The special hours have been 9 to 10 a.m., Monday through Friday. Now, starting July 26, the days on which the special hours will be in effect will simply change to Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Costco did not say why it is reversing course on the policy change it had announced earlier.
