Rich people can have many reasons to move to a new place. Maybe they are in search of more opportunities or lower taxes. Or maybe they want to relocate simply because they have the means to do so.
Some countries are seeing a large exodus of millionaires in 2025.
The United Kingdom is expected to see the biggest net loss, with 16,500 millionaires worth a collective $91.8 billion relocating to new countries, according to Henley & Partners. China comes in second with a loss of 7,800 millionaires. In third place is India, which is projected to record a net loss of 3,500 millionaires this year.
So, where are all these wealthy folks going?
Henley & Partners — a global firm that specializes in residency and citizenship through investing — crunched the numbers and found the countries that are projected to have the highest net inflow of millionaires in 2025.
What’s so good about No. 1? Philippe Amarante, managing partner for Middle East at Henley & Partners, says this about the United Arab Emirates:
“The country’s economic resilience, favorable tax policies, and world-class infrastructure, combined with its strategic location and political stability make it an ideal destination for global wealth and investment.”
Countries gaining the most millionaires
- United Arab Emirates: Projected net gain of 9,800 millionaires in 2025 (with those millionaires’ wealth being worth an estimated $63 billion collectively)
- United States: 7,500 millionaires (worth $43.7 billion)
- Italy: 3,600 millionaires (worth $20.7 billion)
- Switzerland: 3,000 millionaires (worth $16.8 billion)
- Saudi Arabia: 2,400 millionaires (worth $18.4 billion)
- Singapore: 1,600 millionaires (worth $8.9 billion)
- Portugal: 1,400 millionaires (worth $8.1 billion)
- Greece: 1,200 millionaires (worth $7.7 billion)
- Canada: 1,000 millionaires (worth $5.7 billion)
- Australia: 1,000 millionaires (worth $5.6 billion)
