Due to the islands’ delicate ecosystem and remarkable rabies-free status, the state enforces a mandatory pet quarantine law, in which dogs (and cats) can be held up to 120 days if they don’t meet specific requirements. The only way to avoid quarantine is to abide by the state’s 5-Day-or-Less Program, in which pet parents must submit a Dog and Cat Import Form, along with all pre-arrival documents, including two rabies vaccination certificates, a health certificate and pre-payments made payable to the Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity.
