2026 Kia EV6 Is More Affordable Than Ever. Should You Get One?

USA TODAY Network / Reuters

Kia’s electric SUV just got more affordable than ever thanks to new price cuts from the South Korean automaker.

The small electric EV6 SUV is a sporty model that boasts engaging driving dynamics and a practical driving range. It was one of the first competitive electric vehicles in its segment, rivaling models like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Tesla Model Y.

Kia’s EV6 starts under $40,000 for the first time since its 2021 launch. Is the EV6 a good deal for drivers, or are there better alternatives on the market?

How Much Does a 2026 Kia EV6 Cost?

On May 4, Kia announced that pricing for the new 2026 EV6 model starts at $37,900 before taxes and additional fees. Even with a $1,545 destination fee, the electric SUV costs $39,445, making it one of the few brand-new EVs on the market to start under $40K in its segment.

2026 Kia EV6 Trims and Pricing

  • EV6 Light SR RWD: $37,900
  • EV6 Light LR RWD: $41,200
  • EV6 Light LR AWD: $45,200
  • EV6 Wind RWD: $44,800
  • EV6 Wind AWD: $48,800
  • GT-Line RWD: $48,700
  • GT-Line AWD: $53,000

The EV6’s pricing is slightly below average for its base model. Its trims offer varying degrees of performance from average to spectacular.

2026 Kia EV6 Performance and Specs

Kia’s most affordable EV6 trim, the Light SR RWD (standard-range rear-wheel drive), produces 167 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It has a driving range of 237 miles.

The EV6’s affordable base trim produces enough horsepower and has enough driving range to be practical for most drivers. Its true potential is unleashed with the GT-Line AWD final trim.

The final trim is designed for driving enthusiasts and produces a massive 641 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque (with Launch mode). Other upper trims like the Light LR and Wind offer more power and range than the base model, but the GT is the sportiest by far.

Is the 2026 Kia EV6 a Good Deal for Drivers?

Kia has made extreme price cuts to the EV6 for the 2026 model year.

The base model’s price has dropped by $4,930, according to MotorTrend. The GT-Line AWD’s price has been reduced by a whopping $5,830 for 2026.

The 2026 Kia EV6 is an attractive option for drivers seeking a compact electric SUV that’s both stylish and practical. It offers a solid driving range, and upper trims deliver performance that appeals to driving enthusiasts.

The EV’s reduced price is a good deal for Kia fans ready to make the switch to an electric vehicle, but its segment is ultra-competitive.

Tesla’s Model Y small electric SUV is the greatest threat to the EV6. It’s a sales hit and has become one of the best-selling vehicles of the year regularly due to its engaging driving dynamics, quick charging, and excellent standard features.

The Model Y starts at $39,990 for the Rear-Wheel Drive base model. The vehicle produces around 295 horsepower and has an estimated driving range of 321 miles.

Kia’s EV6 small electric SUV delivers great value for the money, but the Model Y still wins in a side-by-side comparison for many drivers.
