If you love Amazon Prime, Walmart just unveiled a similar program.

Today the retailer launched Walmart+.

The membership program — which costs $98 a year or $12.95 a month after a free 15-day trial — promises an array of perks.

Unlimited free delivery from stores

Walmart says you can pay in-store prices on more than 160,000 items, like groceries and household items, and receive free delivery as soon as the same day you order.

The retailer says this feature of Walmart+ replaces its Delivery Unlimited subscription service, and that all current subscribers of that service will automatically become members of Walmart+.

Fuel discounts

Members save up to 5 cents a gallon at nearly 2,000 Walmart, Murphy USA and Murphy Express gas stations. Walmart says Sam’s Club gas stations will be added to the lineup soon.

Access to Scan & Go

Walmart+ members can use a feature called Scan & Go in the Walmart app. It enables them to scan items with their phone as they shop and to pay using Walmart Pay — a touch-free payment process.

In the future, Walmart plans to add additional benefits for members “in a variety of services and offerings,” the retailer says.

More ways to save at Walmart

Whether you shop at Walmart as a member of Walmart+ or simply continue to peruse the aisles as you always have, there are plenty of extra ways to save at the mammoth retailer.

For example, if you shop on Walmart’s website, you can use a browser extension called Honey, which scours the web for coupon codes for the items you are buying. As we have reported:

“Honey automatically searches for discounts for items that you have put in your shopping cart. Then, you can apply the best discount that Honey finds to your purchase before checkout.”
