Wayfair, an online global retailer of home goods and furniture, announced plans to open its first Florida store in Fort Lauderdale.
The store is scheduled to open in late 2027, and will take up about 94,000 square feet across two levels at the Galleria Fort Lauderdale shopping mall, according to a press release published by the company on April 7.
The Fort Lauderdale location is one of four the company plans to open in cities across the country, including Columbus, Ohio, Denver, Colorado and Westchester, New York. Two brick-and-mortar locations are already up and running – one in Atlanta, Georgia and another in Wilmette, Illinois.
“With its strong population growth, vibrant coastal lifestyle and status as a major retail and tourism hub, Fort Lauderdale represents an ideal market for Wayfair’s continued expansion into high-impact regions across the U.S.,” read the Tuesday release.
Wayfair said it intends to tailor the merchandise at the Fort Lauderdale location to “reflect the local community,” adding that the store will take into account the area’s “coastal aesthetic,” and will cater to those interested in “indoor-outdoor living and year-round entertaining.”
Customers will be able to take home some items immediately, while larger pieces like sofas and dining sets will be delivered for free through Wayfair’s network, the release said.
Where Will the New Wayfair Be in Florida?
The new Wayfair store will be housed within the Galleria Fort Lauderdale, which is located at 2414 E. Sunrise Blvd. The store will occupy two levels, according to Wayfair.
“As we continue to grow our retail footprint, entering Florida with a namesake store is an exciting next step for Wayfair,” said Liza Lefkowski, vice president of merchandising and stores at Wayfair. “Galleria Fort Lauderdale’s transformation creates an ideal setting for us to introduce our in-store experience to a new community of customers.”
