4 Retailers Offering Extra Discounts With Store Pickup

We’re all trying to avoid shopping in brick-and-mortar stores these days, it seems, with many grocery stores offering store pickup and home delivery.

But it’s not just grocery stores. All kinds of retailers offer free store pickup in addition to shipping. And some are drawing attention to their store pickup option by offering special discounts to shoppers who use the option.

Using a store pickup service generally means that an employee retrieves the items you ordered from store shelves and bags them. That way, when you arrive, all you have to do is grab your bag at a counter or, in some cases, call the store so an employee can carry it out to your car.

Following are a few examples of retailers currently offering extra discounts for orders that you opt to pickup at a local store.

Belk

Opt for free in-store or curbside pickup and you will save an additional 10% on your order from this department store chain.

The discount will be applied automatically after you select pickup, as opposed to having your order shipped, during checkout. And you can use this discount on top of other coupons — found on Belk’s Coupons webpage.

Belk’s website does not specify when this offer ends.

Petco

Save 10% on your Petco.com order by opting to pick it up at a store. The discount will be applied automatically if you select the “I’ll Pick It Up” option.

Also note that some brands are excluded from this offer, and no expiration date is stated.

Target

Target.com has been offering a rotating selection of freebies and discounts when you pick up certain purchases at your local store.

For example, through Aug. 29, the following freebies are available when you use store pickup or drive-up or even same-day delivery:

• Free $5 gift card with the purchase of two select household essentials items
• Free $10 gift card with the purchase of two select digestive health items
• Free $5 gift card with the purchase of four select hair care items
• Free $30 gift card when you spend $100 or more on select baby diapers, wipes and toiletries
• Free $5 gift card with the purchase of two select formula items from Similac, Enfagrow, Enfamil, Earth’s Best, Happy Baby, Pure Bliss, Gerber or Up&Up

Walmart

Walmart has been offering what it calls a “Pickup Discount” on certain items for a few years now. It’s available for items marked “Pickup discount eligible” on Walmart.com.

Add such an item to your online shopping cart and select “Pickup” and the item will be shipped to your local store if it’s not already available there.

This can save you money not just on the item itself but also on shipping changes if your order is less than $35. (Walmart.com orders generally must total at least $35 to qualify for free shipping.)
