A lousy airport experience can ruin the beginning of a trip — or act as the harsh coda at the end of a vacation. Fortunately, there are some airports across the globe that make flying a little more pleasant.

Recently, international air transportation rating organization Skytrax unveiled its 2025 World Airport Awards. The awards are based on questionnaires completed by airport customers from more than 100 countries.

Factors evaluated include:

  • Check-in
  • Arrivals
  • Transfers
  • Shopping
  • Security

Here are the top-performing airports across the world — including the airport that took the top honor for a record-breaking 13th time.

Changi Airport has taken the top honor in the Skytrax survey for a record 13th time. The airport officially began operations in 1981 and expects to see passenger traffic growth between 3% and 4% every year for the next two decades.

Changi is currently building a fifth terminal and a three-runway system.

Hamad International Airport is relatively young, having opened in 2014. It hosts more than 360,000 flights and 30 million passengers annually — but anticipates that it will soon serve 50 million travelers each year.

The airport’s western runway is the eighth-longest in the world.
