Several varieties of snack mix sold at Target and other retailers are being recalled due to a potential salmonella contamination.
John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. announced a voluntary recall of snack mix products flavored with seasoning manufactured by a third-party supplier that contained recalled dry milk powder, according to a recall announcement published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on May 6.
The notice says the affected seasoning batches tested negative for salmonella prior to use, however the company is taking this action “as a precautionary measure because of the potential that these products may contain the presence of salmonella.”
To date, John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. has not received any reports of illnesses in connection with the affected products, according to the FDA.
Consumers who have recently purchased the products should not consume them and should return them to the store of purchase for a full refund or replacement.
