Tesla sold 358,023 cars globally in the first three months of 2026, according to a sales report released by the company on April 2.
The figure was down from the 418,227 cars Tesla reported selling globally in the fourth quarter of 2025, but it was up from the 336,000 vehicles Tesla reported selling in the first three months of 2025.
“In the first quarter, we produced over 408,000 vehicles, delivered over 358,000 vehicles and deployed 8.8 GWh of energy storage products,” Tesla said in a press release. “Thank you to all of our customers, employees, suppliers, shareholders and supporters who helped us achieve these results.”
What Were Tesla’s Best Selling Cars in the First Quarter of 2026?
Tesla said the Model 3 and Y were its best selling cars in the first quarter of 2026, selling a combined 341,893 units. All other Tesla models sold a combined 16,130 units in the quarter, the company said.
Tesla did not report the individual sales figures for the Model 3 and Y.
How Did Tesla’s Sales Compare to Expectations?
Tesla was expected to sell 112,196 cars in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2026, according to estimates from Cox Automotive. Tesla did not specify its domestic sales in its latest report.
Charlie Chesbrough, senior economist at Cox Automotive, said industry sales overall are predicted to be relatively stable at the start of 2026.
“Sales are no longer swinging wildly month to month, but growth is also harder to come by,” Chesbrough said in a statement. “Affordability remains the central challenge for the industry, and that is limiting the market’s ability to expand beyond the mid-15-million range.”
