
Last-minute shoppers can breathe a little more easily.
Retailers are relying on special store hours to help draw in last-minute shoppers amid steep competition this year, CBS MoneyWatch reports.
Wal-Mart recently announced, for example, that its Wal-Mart stores will remain open until 8 p.m. local time on Christmas Eve and its Neighborhood Market stores will remain open until 6 p.m.
Customers who wish to order online and pick up their purchase at a local Wal-Mart store can place orders as late as 6 p.m. Dec. 23.
Rival Target will keep its doors open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve. It will have the same hours on Dec. 26, although some stores may be open until midnight that day.
Toys R Us recently announced that its stores will remain open for 39 consecutive hours leading up to Christmas: from 6 a.m. Wednesday until 9 p.m. Christmas Eve.
Toys R Us customers can order online for store pickup as late as 4 p.m. Christmas Eve and pick up their purchase in an hour or less.
Kohl’s will remain open for more than 170 hours leading up to Christmas: from 7 a.m. Dec. 17 through 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.
Other stores that will stay open until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve include Best Buy.
