After nearly a year hunkered down amid the pandemic, many people are eager to plan a triumphant return to travel — and there’s no better time to start planning than right now, today.

That’s because two incredible hotel rewards offers from American Express are going away on Jan. 13, 2021.

The Mariott Bonvoy Business card and its consumer cousin, the Mariott Bonvoy Brilliant card, at the time of writing have an introductory offer of up to 125,000 bonus points plus a year of free Platinum Elite status. (As of Jan. 13, 2021, this offer is expired.)

Those points could be worth several free nights at a network of more than 7,000 properties worldwide — we’re talking dozens of brands, not just hotels with Marriott in the name.

Why you should jump on these offers

Redemption rates for free nights range from 4,500 points per night to 100,000 depending on season and property. Plus, a four-night redemption earns a fifth night free. So whether you want a free luxury stay, to stretch your travel budget as far as possible, or something in between, you’ll get a lot of value and flexibility out of this offer.

Meanwhile, Platinum Elite status means you can score free room upgrades and late checkout times, among other benefits. You’ll also earn bonus points faster for future free stays. Normally, Platinum Elite status requires spending $75,000 in a calendar year.

The introductory offer on both cards requires spending at least $5,000 in your first three months of card membership.

And even after these incredible introductory offers run their course, both cards offer worthwhile ongoing benefits for frequent travelers. Check out the details of both cards and see if either is right for you.
