You’ve made it to your golden years! And after several decades of punching the clock, you’re ready to enjoy life on your own schedule and at your own pace.

You’ve closed the book on business meetings, the kids are grown and now is the perfect time for a grand adventure. Well, grab your bucket list because many hotel chains offer discounts to savvy seniors who are making the most of the next phase of life.

Following are 10 hotels and motels that offer discounts to retirees.

Best Western Hotels & Resorts

If you are 55 or older, you can get 10 percent off a room rate — at minimum — at Best Western Hotels & Resorts across the globe. Here’s a helpful hint: Join AARP, and you’ll enjoy this discount as early as age 50.

Some Best Western hotels also offer other complimentary perks to retirees, including:

  • Early check-in
  • Late check-out
  • Complimentary hotel room upgrade
  • Continental breakfast

Choice Hotels

If you are 60 or older, save up to 10 percent at Choice Hotels – including brands such as Comfort Inn, Sleep Inn, EconoLodge and more – when you make a reservation in advance. And again, you can get this price break even before you turn 60 if you join AARP.

Here’s another golden deal for retirees! If you are at least 62 and have a membership in AARP or other retired persons organization, you can enjoy a discounted room rate at Crown Plaza Hotels & Resorts, which includes brands such as Holiday Inn, Candlewood Suites and others.

Hyatt

Did you know that seniors can save up to a whopping 50 percent on the daily rate at participating Hyatt hotels in the U.S. and Canada? Reservations must be made in advance and are based on double occupancy. Other terms and conditions apply, so check them out before booking.

La Quinta

If you are at least 65, you can score special savings at La Quinta Inns & Suites. Book online or call and ask for the senior rate to nab your discount. Once again, folks younger than 65 can get a jump-start on this rate by becoming an AARP member.

Marriott

Are you a fan of the Marriott? Well, if you are 62 or older, you can snag at least a 15 percent discount off a room rate at Marriott hotels worldwide.

Motel 6

Motel 6 offers a 10 percent discount to anyone who is 60 or older. As with all of these deals, make sure you read the terms and conditions before booking.

Omni Hotels & Resorts

Blow out the candles on your 55th birthday cake, and you’ll be eligible for a senior discount at Omni Hotels & Resorts. What a great gift!

Red Roof Inn

This senior discount is a bit sneakier than the others. If you go to the Red Roof Inn homepage, you won’t see any mention of a discount. However, when you book a reservation, look for the “Senior Rate” option and choose it.

For example, selecting the Senior Rate option on a recent search for a room on an April night at the Red Roof Inn in Orlando, Florida, dropped the price by 10 percent.

Wyndham Hotel Group

If you are at least 60, your stay at a hotel in the Wyndham Hotel Group – which includes brands such as Days Inn, Ramada, Travelodge and others – will be discounted. The exact amount is unspecified, but Ramada mentions up to a 10 percent discount.
