Amazon is offering a great deal to anyone who never has bought a gift card from the retail giant.
Buy an Amazon gift card for $50, and you will get a $15 credit when you use the coupon code GIFTCARD2021 during the checkout process.
While that is an undeniably great deal, it is not available to everyone.
As CNET notes, there are many terms and conditions that come with the card. Most importantly, you are only eligible for the deal if you never have bought a gift card with your Amazon account previously.
In addition, the gift card you buy must be worth $50 or more, and you must complete your order by June 28. After you apply the coupon code, you should see the following message:
“Congratulations, your purchase qualifies you for an Amazon.com credit. A one-time $15 promotional credit will be automatically applied to your account and emailed to you within three (3) days after shipping.”
CNET reports that the deal appears to be “finicky” and that some shoppers have complained that they are not eligible for the offer despite never having bought an Amazon gift card.
Go to Amazon to try your luck. After adding the $50 gift card to your shopping cart, go to checkout and look for “Add a gift card or promotion code or voucher.” Add the coupon code and hit “apply” to see if it worked.
