Let’s face it, being frugal is a hot new trend. But being frugal doesn’t have to mean trimming expenses like hair cuts, pedicures, and massages. Just get em cheaper! One place to do it? Your local cosmetology school.
Does the thought of allowing a student to hack on your head fill you with dread? Relax…
“These students are basic students, they start off on mannequins. They stay in this classroom for 250 hours and then they take exam and they graduate to become an intermediate student.”
-Stan Barnett / Owner, Margate School of Beauty
Students have to complete a total of 600 hours in order to start working on actual clients. But if that doesn’t help ease your doubt, maybe this will: prices. Need a hair cut? At this school, it’s only $6. Want a massage? $25… Or how about a facial? That’s only $25!
“On a Saturday we can go through at least 300 clients. And we do quality work. The students that are out there can go and start working at a salon right away instead of having to be an apprentice.”
-Stan Barnett / Owner, Margate School of Beauty
And here’s proof: I just got my hair cut here at the beauty school. I think it looks ok. So that just goes to show you, being frugal doesn’t mean being deprived… it means being smart. So if you want to do what I did, find a school of beauty simply by going to your favorite search engine, put in your zip code, and then the words “cosmetology school.”
