CyberSecure: Your Medical Practice is free, playable in your browser, and modeled loosely after the popular computer game series The Sims. It’s designed to teach players about privacy rules about patient medical information, along with other online identity theft stuff we often talk about here, like strong passwords and antivirus software. And it’s meant to take about half an hour to play through.
Why a game?
The use of gamification by [the U.S. Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology] is an innovative approach aimed at educating health care providers to make more informed decisions regarding privacy and security of health information.
In other words, they realized more people like playing Facebook games than like reading instruction manuals.
