Yes, you can get cheap gift cards at the dollar store. But this deal is even better -- no purchase is necessary to land these freebies.

A dollar store is generally the best place to buy greeting cards. You can’t beat prices like $1 and even 50 cents — unless you live near a Hallmark Gold Crown store.

These Hallmark stores are giving cards away this summer — a promotion called Free Card Friday.

Free Card Friday

Basically, on every Friday through Aug. 31, including today, you can pick up one card from Hallmark’s Just Because line for free.

That means you can snag as many as 11 brand-name greeting cards for free. So, mark your calendar for those Fridays:

  1. June 29
  2. July 6
  3. July 13
  4. July 20
  5. July 27
  6. Aug. 3
  7. Aug. 10
  8. Aug. 17
  9. Aug. 24
  10. Aug. 31

The only hitch to Free Card Friday is that you must be a member of Hallmark’s loyalty program, Crown Rewards, to take advantage of the offer. But joining Crown Rewards is free, and you can join online.

Also, note that the Free Card Friday freebies are available only at participating Hallmark Gold Crown stores in the U.S. “while supplies last,” according to the offer details.

Hallmark Crown Rewards

Crown Rewards members earn 10 points for every dollar they spend at Gold Crown stores and on Hallmark’s website. Points convert to Rewards Dollars, which members can spend like cash.

Hallmark is also currently offering a coupon for $5 off a $10 purchase to folks who sign up for Crown Rewards. The company will email the coupon to you after you sign up.

Hallmark is offering a bunch of other deals to Crown Rewards members, too. You can scope them out on the Crown Rewards offers page.
