Over 48,000 Toyota vehicles are being recalled due to a potential issue that could pose a safety risk.
According to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, certain vehicles are being recalled because an oil reservoir could detach, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a collision.
“The metal flange on the front and rear shock absorbers may corrode and fail, resulting in detachment of the external oil reservoir,” the notice says.
Here’s what to know about the affected models and what owners should do next.
Which Toyota Models Are Included?
According to the NHTSA, 48,280 vehicles are potentially affected:
- 2024-2025 Toyota Tacoma
- 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid
The recall numbers are 26TB14 and 26TA14.
What Should Owners Do?
Owners are advised to take their vehicle to a dealership for inspection, the NHTSA said. The front and rear shock absorber assemblies will be replaced if deemed necessary at no charge.
Notification letters are scheduled to be mailed Sept. 21. Owners can contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.
