6 Retailers That Will Reward You for Getting a Flu Shot in 2023

Flu season is about to get underway, and one of the best ways to keep this illness at bay is to get a flu shot.

And if staying healthy is not enough motivation to roll up your sleeve, how about a freebie or discount?

Several retail chains offer rewards for people who get flu shots at their locations. Incentives are currently being offered by the following retailers.

Typically, flu shots are free with most insurance plans. So, if you have insurance, you likely can claim a flu-fighting reward when you get your shot from these chains without spending a dime. But make sure to confirm that with your insurer first.

1. CVS Pharmacy

Enjoy shopping at CVS? Get a flu shot at a CVS Pharmacy location, and you’ll get a coupon good for $5 off a $20 purchase at CVS or Longs Drugs, which is also owned by CVS.

This deal is available until Dec. 31, while supplies last.

The offer is not available in some states, including:

• Any location in Arkansas, New Jersey and New York
• MinuteClinic locations in Arkansas, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island

In addition, the coupon cannot be issued or redeemed at a CVS Pharmacy at Target or CVS Pharmacy at Schnucks locations. You must have an ExtraCare card to receive savings.

2. Walgreens

Get your flu shot at Walgreens, and the retailer will give you $5 in Walgreens Cash rewards. This can be used toward a future in-store purchase of $1 or more. Only one coupon can be used per transaction, and no cash back will be given.

The offer is good through Aug. 31, although we suspect a new offer will be unveiled after that date. The coupon is not available in Arkansas, New Jersey or New York.

3. Safeway

Schedule your flu shot at Safeway through Dec. 31, and you can get 10% off a store purchase of up to $200. A $40 minimum grocery purchase is required.

The offer is not available in Arkansas or to New Jersey residents under the age of 60. In addition, New York residents can only qualify for the reward if they get the COVID-19 vaccine. You must belong to Safeway’s loyalty program to be eligible for the reward.

4. Albertsons

This grocery chain is offering 10% off a store purchase of up to $200 when you get a flu shot at a store.

The offer is not available in Arkansas or to New Jersey residents under the age of 60. In addition, New York residents can only qualify for the reward if they get the COVID-19 vaccine. You must belong to the Albertsons loyalty program to be eligible for the reward.

5. Winn-Dixie

Get your flu or (COVID-19) shot at Winn-Dixie, and you will get a 20x points multiplier in the grocer’s loyalty program.

You must have a rewards account. No expiration date is mentioned.

6. Giant Eagle

Get your flu shot at a Giant Eagle pharmacy, and you will get $5 in rewards. The offer also is available on other vaccines, too. To qualify, you need an Advantage Card.

The flu shot is not available for kids under the age of 18 in West Virginia.
