National Park Service sites that typically charge entrance fees will offer free admission to everyone on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which falls this year on Jan. 15.

If you would like to pay tribute by exploring a park that is connected to the legacy of the celebrated civil rights leader, you can visit one of the following:

  • The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C. (pictured)
  • The Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail, along the path of the 1965 Voting Rights March in Alabama
