If you’re a member of anything from AARP to Costco, you might be paying too much for home insurance.

Various organizations offer their members discounts on such things as eye care, car insurance and homeowners insurance.

Following are several examples of groups that offer homeowners insurance discounts to at least some of their members.

1. AARP

This special interest group serves Americans as they age, including offering members savings of up to 20% through its bundled homeowners and auto insurance program from The Hartford. Mobile and manufactured home owners can find discounted rates through a program offered by Foremost.

Note that these programs are not available in all states or in U.S. territories.

2. AAA

This nonprofit federation of motor clubs offers various types of insurance programs, but the details vary from one AAA club to another. Check the website of the club for your region to see what kind of insurance discounts it may offer.

Visiting AAA.com should redirect you to the website for your region’s AAA club.

3. AMAC

The Association of Mature American Citizens, or AMAC, is another special interest group serving older folks. It offers members savings on homeowners insurance through a partnership with Travelers.

4. Wholesale clubs

If you belong to or are considering joining a wholesale club, ask about homeowners insurance discounts for members.

For example, Costco partners with Connect, powered by American Family Insurance, to offer exclusive discounts on home insurance. The program may not be available in all states, though.

Similarly, BJ’s Wholesale Club partners with Liberty Mutual.

5. Various other organizations

If you belong to some other form of membership organization, there may be an insurer with a great homeowners insurance rate for you.

Insurer Safeco reports other types of groups that may offer the membership benefit of homeowners insurance discounts include:

  • Alumni associations
  • Professional groups
  • Unions
