President Joe Biden and newly convicted felon/presumed Republican nominee Donald Trump have agreed to their first steel cage match, er, debate, of the 2024 campaign season: Thursday, June 27, on CNN.
The candidates have also agreed to a second debate in the fall, but let’s see if the initial face-off even happens.
The 2024 presidential debates on TV

There could be up to four presidential debates in 2024, but don’t hold your breath. Let’s dig into the deets.
First presidential debate: Thursday, June 27, 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET on CNN

In May, President Biden challenged Trump to a debate on CNN, moderated by network anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.
Trump quickly accepted, even though the parameters of the debate — which bypasses the Commission on Presidential Debates — are unusual: No audience will be present, and participants’ microphones will be cut off after their allotted speaking time (aka rant control).
Second presidential debate: Tuesday, Sept. 10, 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET on ABC

The second confirmed presidential debate is set to air on ABC in September and to be moderated by ABC News anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis.
Biden’s no-audience and mic-cutoff rules also apply to this debate, and again, no other 2024 presidential candidates (Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West, Jill Stein, Marianne Williamson, Vermin Supreme, etc.) have been invited to participate.
Third presidential debate: Wednesday, Oct. 2 on Fox News (?)

It’s optimistic to predict that the first two debates will go off without a hitch and several glitches, and there’s a possibility of even more debates.
When he accepted Biden’s challenge in May, Trump also posted on Truth Social his own challenge for a Fox News debate in October, moderated by Fox anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. Biden hasn’t agreed to this, presumably because he’s not on Truth Social.
Fourth presidential debate: TBD on NBC and Telemundo (?)

Later, Trump Truthed that he’d also like to debate Biden on NBC and its Spanish-language corporate cousin Telemundo because it’s important to “our Great Hispanic Community” (the said community had no comment).
Biden hasn’t agreed to show up for a possible NBC/Telemundo debate, but it’s speculated that the promise of ice cream and horchata could sweeten the deal.
How to watch the 2024 presidential debates

If you’ve been paying attention, you’re aware that these debates could vaporize at any minute — it’s a weird political year, even by post-2015 America standards.
But, let’s assume the debates will go on as scheduled and that both candidates will be alive, well, and not on house arrest at Mar-a-Lago at that time. Here’s what you’ll need to watch the upcoming Biden/Trump debates.
