It’s not all babysitting the grandkids and going to bingo night for people over 80.

Many people continue to work past retirement age for a variety of reasons. Some love their jobs and like getting out and about and keeping busy. And yes, many keep on working out of necessity – they need to continue to bring in money to live on.

The famous people on this list don’t need the money. All of them are millionaires, many times over. But despite being 80 or older, they continue to work. Here’s a look at who they are and what they’re up to.

Martha Stewart

Date of birth: Aug. 3, 1941

Estimated net worth: $400 million

Throw an especially elaborate party and be prepared to be dubbed the Martha Stewart of your friend group. Her name is that legendary. Stewart’s first book, “Entertaining,” came out in 1982, and dozens of books, a magazine, TV show, podcast, and many product lines followed.

In May 2023, at age 81, Stewart became the oldest woman ever to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s annual swimsuit issue, looking glamorous, sexy and nowhere near her age. And she’s famously friends with rapper Snoop Dogg, who was a guest on her first podcast episode in 2022.

Mick Jagger

Date of birth: July 26, 1943

Estimated net worth: $500 million

Start him up and he’ll never stop, musician Mick Jagger promised in the 1981 Rolling Stones hit song “Start Me Up.” He’s been true to his word: The legendary band he co-founded in the 1960s is still rocking today, having released its 24th studio album, “Hackney Diamonds,” in October 2023, at the age of 80.

He isn’t done, either — according to music magazine NME, Jagger said in late 2023 that the band was almost “three-quarters through the next [album].” And Jagger’s not just hanging around the studio. The Stones are heading back out on tour in April 2024 to hit 16 cities in the U.S. and Canada. It could make a grown man cry.

Warren Buffett

Date of birth: Aug. 30, 1930

Estimated net worth: $106 billion

Most of the people on this list have net worths in the millions, but Warren Buffett’s fortune can be measured in billions. Yet the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway still runs his multinational company, and when he delivers financial advice, investors listen.

And as rich as he is, Buffett lives an impressively frugal life, still residing in the modest Omaha home he bought back in the 1950s. He’s not retiring to the couch, either – in May 2023, when he was 92 years old, he answered questions for six hours at Berkshire’s annual meeting.

Joe Biden

Date of birth: Nov. 20, 1942

Estimated net worth: $10 million

When Joe Biden was first sworn in as a U.S. senator in 1973, he was barely 30, one of the youngest senators in U.S. history. Now, of course, he’s the oldest president in U.S. history. He’s received criticism from some who say his age is a liability. But that hasn’t stopped him from announcing he’ll be running for re-election in 2024.

Dick Van Dyke

Date of birth: Dec. 13, 1925

Estimated net worth: $50 million

Dick Van Dyke started his entertainment career on the radio in the 1940s, moving on to TV and movies and winning five Emmys, a Tony, a Grammy and more. He could easily drop the final curtain on his career, but that’s not happening.

In early 2023, at age 97, he was a contestant on the reality show “The Masked Singer,” making him the oldest person ever to compete on the show. And in late 2023, he popped up on the soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” playing a war veteran with amnesia.

Judi Dench

Date of birth: Dec. 9, 1934

Estimated net worth: $45 million

Oscar-winning actress Judi Dench made her stage debut in 1957 and went on to play everyone from Queen Elizabeth I to James Bond’s boss, M.

Aging hasn’t been easy – she was diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration in 2012, and her sight has deteriorated so much that she can no longer see to read her scripts. But she gets by with a little help from her friends and her photographic memory. She even earned an Oscar nomination for her work in the 2021 film “Belfast.”
