Walmart Offers Free Health Screenings on Saturday

Get your body tuned up for summer — and beyond — with a free health screening this Saturday as part of Walmart Wellness Day.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Walmart will offer the exams at more than 4,600 locations nationwide. You’ll be screened for:

  • Blood glucose
  • Blood pressure
  • Body mass index
  • Vision at select locations

Product samples also will be available, and Walmart pharmacists will offer immunizations in select stores.

The exam comes with a bonus perk. If your blood glucose or blood pressure screenings indicate you are at risk for type 2 diabetes, the American Diabetes Association will follow up your exam with an email suggesting next steps and resources for lowering your risk.

The American Diabetes Association estimates that 1 in 11 Americans has diabetes today. In addition, about 1 in 3 — or 86 million people — are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.

If you can’t make it to Saturday’s free screening, mark your calendars to look for a future date. Walmart and the American Diabetes Association will team up for future free health screenings and follow-up in September, and again in January and the spring of next year.
