Target is among America’s most beloved retailers, and there are several ways to score free gift cards from Target, thanks largely to its gift card promotions and trade-in programs.

Here are seven of the best ways to lay hands on Target gift cards for free:

1. Shop at Target

That’s right: You can rack up free Target gift cards just for shopping at the retailer — including online and in stores.

Target regularly runs promotions for free Target gift cards with certain purchases. Look for the latest of these promotions in your local Target store’s weekly ad and on Target’s “Current Promotions” webpage.

2. Sell your clutter to Target’s trade-in program

If you have electronics sitting around unused, sell them to Target’s tech trade-in program.

To get started, look up an item on the trade-in program’s website to find out how much money you would get for it. You will receive that amount on a Target gift card if you decide to proceed with the trade.

3. Exchange your unwanted gift cards

If you have unwanted gift cards lying around, exchange them at a Target store that participates in Target’s gift card trade-in program. You will get a Target gift card instead.

To find out if Target accepts the brand of gift card you want to exchange, or to find a store where you can exchange it, check the gift card trade-in program website.

4. Download Shopkick

Shopkick is a free app that rewards you — with points called “kicks” — for doing small tasks while shopping, such as scanning product bar codes in stores. You can redeem kicks for free gift cards to various retailers, including Target.

5. Join Swagbucks

Swagbucks is a free rewards program. As a Swagbucks member, you’ll be able to accumulate points called “SB” for completing simple tasks online — including shopping online and searching the web, for example.

Then, you can redeem your SB for free gift cards to various retailers, including Target.

6. Buy gift cards through Raise Pay

Raise.com is a discounted gift card marketplace that recently started selling new gift cards as well. The new gift cards are available on a section of Raise’s website called Raise Pay.

If you buy new gift cards through Raise Pay, you will earn rewards called Raise Cash. And you can put your Raise Cash toward future purchases of gift cards from Raise — including discounted Target gift cards — effectively getting gift cards for free.
