It’s seldom that we see two cash-back portals run noteworthy promotions at the same time, but that’s what TopCashBack.com and Ebates.com are doing today.

On Tuesday, TopCashBack will “boost” cash back you earn by 20 percent. Starting Tuesday, Ebates is doubling the amount of cash back it usually offers for certain retailers.

These websites are what’s known as “cash-back portals.” By doing your online shopping through them, you’ll earn cash back — during these promotions and in the future — on purchases from thousands of retailers that partner with TopCashBack or Ebates.

I made more than $100 using cash-back portals last year.

There is no “catch.” TopCashBack and Ebates receive a commission from retailers for referring online shoppers to those retailers’ websites. Then, they share that commission with shoppers to encourage them to continue using TopCashBack or Ebates — a win-win.

It’s free to sign up for a TopCashBack account, and it’s free to sign up for an Ebates account. It’s also free to use both portals.

TopCashBack

Ebates

Select retailers that partner with Ebates are offering twice as much cash back this week as they usually do.

As of Tuesday morning, some 20 major retailers were participating. They include:
