Amazon Prime members enjoy an increasing number of benefits, including freebies. But there is also a lot that anyone — including folks without a Prime membership — can get for free through Amazon.

Here are six examples:

1. Cloud storage

Amazon Drive is the retailer’s cloud storage app, offering online storage for files like documents, photos and videos

It competes with the likes of Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and Dropbox. And, like these competitors, Amazon Drive offers a certain amount of storage for free — 5 GB — as well as paid plans to which you can upgrade if you want more space.

2. E-books

You’ll find free e-books for Kindle, which is Amazon’s line of e-readers, on the “Free Books and Low Priced Reading Options” webpage. To home in on the true freebies, click on any genre listed under “Top Rated Free Books” on the left side of that page.

As we have explained before, you do not need an e-reader to read e-books.

3. Audiobooks

Amazon owns Audible, a company that produces and sells audiobooks and other audio entertainment. Audible also offers a membership that entitles you to access free and reduced-price audio content.

Audible memberships are not free, but a free 30-day trial is available. And if you sign up for the trial, you get any two audiobooks at no cost.

Just don’t forget to cancel the Audible membership before the trial ends if you decide you don’t want to pay for a membership.

4. TV shows and movies

Prime Video is Amazon’s streaming video service, offering access to movies and TV shows over the internet. It competes with services like Netflix and Hulu.

Prime Video is free with an Amazon Prime membership, and nonmembers can buy a Prime Video subscription for $8.99 a month. So, if you sign up for a free 30-day Prime trial, you can access Prime Video for free during that time.

Again, remember to cancel the Prime membership before the trial ends if you don’t want to pay for Prime.

5. Shipping

Amazon Prime members can get free and fast shipping for just about anything, but nonmembers can also get free shipping for many purchases.

The “Order with Free Shipping by Amazon” webpage explains:

“All orders of $25 or more of eligible items across any product category qualify for FREE Shipping. Some items may have additional options for qualifying for FREE Shipping. These will be shown at checkout.”

6. Anything you can buy with a gift card

Yes, it’s possible to snag an Amazon gift card for free, as we detail in “5 Ways to Score Free Amazon Gift Cards.” And anything you “purchase” with a free gift card is effectively free.
