Soccer ball — Aug. 2
Lowe’s rewards members can go to a local store anytime after 10 a.m. on Aug. 2 to receive a free kit that includes a small soccer ball and an exclusive instructional video from the famous player Messi.
Streaming services — ongoing
Thinking about cutting the cord? These freebies might make your decision a bit easier.
There are several movie streaming sites — including Comet, Crackle, Documentary+ and Tubi — that don’t require a paid subscription. The only caveat? You won’t be able to skip the commercials. Learn more in “18 Streaming TV Services That Are Completely Free (Really).”
National parks entry — Aug. 4
Aug. 4 is the anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act of 2020, a federal law that provides funding so national parks and public lands can improve their infrastructure and expand recreation opportunities.
In celebration, all National Park Service sites that typically charge entrance fees will be offering free admission to all visitors.

Root beer float — Aug. 6
Aug. 6 is National Root Beer Float Day. To celebrate, participating A&W locations in the U.S. are offering free small floats to guests.
Shipping — ongoing
Paying for a membership like Amazon Prime or Walmart+ is hardly the only way to get free shipping. For example, swiping the right credit and shopping at the right retailers are other options. We detail more in “7 Ways to Land Free Shipping for Online Purchases.”
Sales tax on school supplies — various dates in August
Enjoy tax breaks on back-to-school shopping in several states in August. Items ranging from school supplies to clothing are exempt from taxes in various places this month.

TSA PreCheck — ongoing
In July, Gold Star families — those who have lost a loved one in military service — became the latest group to qualify to enroll in TSA PreCheck at no cost.
They aren’t alone, though. Holders of certain credit cards, members of certain loyalty programs, and military personnel and civilian staff members of the U.S. Department of Defense also qualify for this freebie, as we detail in “4 Groups Who Now Get TSA PreCheck for Free.”
Sales tax on period products — ongoing
As part of their #TamponTaxBack initiative, feminine hygiene product brand August is paying customers back any sales taxes they had to pay on period products. (In many states, such products are considered medical necessities and thus exempt from sales taxes, but August reports that 18 states still consider them non-essential goods and charge sales taxes on them.)
To get reimbursed, sign up on August’s website and then text the company photos of your receipts for period products you paid sales taxes on.
Chicken sandwiches — every Sunday in August
Shake Shack is hosting Chicken Sundays through Aug. 31. On these days, customers who place an order of at least $10 will get a free Chicken Shack.
Coffee — ongoing
Get a free coffee at a Capital One Cafe by giving them your phone number here.
You can find Capital One Cafes in 18 states and the District of Columbia.
Dental care — ongoing
Visits to the dentist can be expensive. And as inflation surges, more people may be tempted to skip this important care.
But if you qualify, dental services can be free. Dentists around the nation volunteer for the Donated Dental Services program, which offers care to those who have no other means to afford dental care and meet one of the following criteria:
- Have a permanent disability
- Are over 65
- Require medically necessary dental care
