Loyal Aldi shoppers know it well — the legendary “Aisle of Shame.”
The affectionate nickname is a nod to the delights and temptations this section of the store poses to customers.
Everything from clothing to home decor lines the shelves of the Aldi Finds area (its official moniker), and the selection typically changes every Wednesday.
This week, one Aldi Finds item in particular caught our eye — a rechargeable sonic toothbrush made by an Aldi-owned brand of handheld appliances, Ambiano.
Available for $20, this is a dental care deal shoppers can really sink their teeth into.
The Ambiano rechargeable sonic toothbrush reminds me of my (much more expensive) Philips Sonicare brush. But this one comes in several color options, which at my local Aldi include pink, purple and blue.
The handle is waterproof, there’s a built-in 2-minute timer, and it’s not bulky like some other electric brushes.
Here are a few more reasons to love this brush:
- The toothbrush offers four cleaning modes: standard, whitening, sensitive and deep clean.
- It has fading bristles, which make it easy to determine when it’s time to change the brush head (and the package comes with three head replacements).
- The brush is designed to be compatible with most Philips Sonicare brush heads — which you can buy in bulk at warehouse clubs like Costco.
- With up to 40,000 strokes per minute, this is a true sonic toothbrush. (For comparison, Sonicare offers 31,000 strokes per minute.)
But how does the brush’s price hold up against competitors with similar specs?
The Philips Sonicare 4100 Plaque Control Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush retails for $49.99 at Target as of when this article was written. Novashine’s Sonic Whitening Toothbrush costs $59.99, and at Walmart, the Supersonic Sonic Zoom Advance Wireless Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush sells for $54.90.
Interested in this plaque-attack bargain? The brush should be available in stores through Sept. 16, assuming supplies don’t run out first. You may want to call ahead to make sure your local store still has it in stock before you drive there.
