Perhaps the best-known perk of an Amazon Prime membership is free shipping on virtually everything, but Amazon isn’t the only retailer that offers it.

Many smaller retailers offer free shipping with no minimum order requirement, as we detail in “28 Retailers That Offer Free Shipping With No Minimum — and No Membership.”

Slurpee — July 11

A longstanding tradition at 7-Eleven is to celebrate the chain’s birthday — on July 11, or “7/11” — by offering complimentary Slurpees to customers. This year, you can get a free small Slurpee at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes locations.

Additionally, loyalty members who scan their rewards info on July 11 will get a coupon for another free small Slurpee, which they can redeem anytime before July 31.

National French Fry Day is in July, and although there’s disagreement on the date, White Castle and McDonald’s will both be observing this holiday.

White Castle is offering one free cheese fry with any order using this coupon or the code CHEESY, which is valid July 11-13.

Busy on those days? You can still get free fries. Every Friday in 2025, customers can roll up to McDonald’s for free medium fries with any purchase of $1 or more. You have to order through the McDonald’s app to take advantage of the deal, but the app is free, too.

Each summer, usually starting in July, states across the country roll out back-to-school sales tax holidays. During these time frames, certain school supplies and other back-to-school items like clothing and sometimes computers can be purchased without paying sales tax.

The states offering back-to-school sales tax holidays this July include:

Other states will offer back-to-school sales tax holidays in August. Check the Federation of Tax Administrators’ calendar for any that could be coming up soon in your area.

Ice cream — July 20

National Ice Cream Day is the third Sunday in July — falling on July 20 this year — and multiple chains will celebrate it with freebies.

Dippin’ Dots franchise locations are offering a free mini cup of Dippin’ Dots to customers. However, the freebie is only available during a two-hour window, so you’ll have to check with the location nearest to you for times.

Dairy Queen gave out free Dilly Bars to its loyalty program members in 2024 and may do the same in 2025.

If neither of these is up your alley, other chains will likely announce deals as the holiday approaches, so keep an eye out.

Cheesecake — July 30 through Aug. 3

Restaurants often have deals in honor of certain food holidays but don’t always announce them in advance. Keep an eye on promotions from local businesses that might be celebrating these holidays in 2025:

  • National Mac and Cheese Day (July 14): Chains like KFC and Brio Italian Grille had freebies in 2024.
  • National Hot Dog Day (July 17): Chains like Dog Haus had freebies last year.
  • National Chicken Wing Day (July 29): Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebee’s and more had freebies last year.
