Fall is underway, and the winter holiday season is right around the corner! Companies want to be prepared for the influx of customers, and that means recruiting, hiring and training seasonal and holiday workers to meet the demands of the upcoming season.

This year, though, the pandemic has had a dramatic effect on seasonal hiring. With consumers spending more time shopping online and opting for home delivery and curbside pickup, many companies are experiencing an increased need for remote workers.

About holiday jobs this year

Not only do remote seasonal jobs help alleviate pressure that the holiday season presents, they can also help workers get back on their feet and bridge the gap between no work (or reduced hours) and full-time employment.

Through the years, FlexJobs has seen a variety of companies hiring for remote temporary, seasonal and holiday jobs. Many work-from-home holiday jobs are in the customer service and retail industries, but there are also great jobs in the finance and human resources fields.

To help job seekers find seasonal work this fall and winter, FlexJobs has identified 13 companies that are currently recruiting workers for seasonal jobs that can be done from home.

Tips for landing a seasonal work-from-home job

To help you find job search success, the FlexJobs’ career coaching team has outlined several tips that can help you land the perfect remote seasonal or holiday job.

Start looking early. The earlier you start looking for remote seasonal jobs, the better! Hiring for seasonal jobs is happening now.

Highlight your experience. Make sure to highlight any previous remote work experience on your resume or application materials. Even if it was only occasional remote work or unpaid volunteer work you did from home, it still counts. Here are three way to highlight your remote work experience:

  • State it clearly. List “Remote Work” next to your job title.
  • Include your remote work experience in the descriptions of your past jobs.
  • Build it into your skills section. For example, list the top skills employers like to see when hiring for remote jobs, such as time and task management, communication, self-management, the ability to work independently, and comfort with technology.
Also, make sure you understand the requirements of any seasonal or holiday job. At this time of year, employers need to hire people who will be able to work through the holidays, which may include Thanksgiving or Christmas, so check your availability before making any commitments.

Safely find a seasonal job. With increased hiring during the holiday season can come increased job scams. Using FlexJobs to find a remote holiday job means that you are safe from any job scams, bogus opportunities or ads. Our trained research team verifies every job and company that goes onto our site, meaning you can search for a legitimate work-from-home holiday job.
